Tiger Woods has been arrested and charged with a DUI after a rollover car crash in Jupiter Island, Florida.
In a press conference on Friday, March 27, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to reporters that Woods, 50, was arrested and charged with DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
“Our DUI investigators came to the scene here. Mr. Woods did exemplify signs of impairment,” SheriffJohn Budensiek said in the press conference. “They did several tests. He did explain the injuries and the surgeries that he had. We did take that into account.”
Police continued, “Mr. Woods did a breathalyzer test with triple zeros, but when it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused, so he’s been charged with DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.”
Earlier in the day, police confirmed to ESPN that the athlete was involved in a rollover crash just after 2 p.m. local time. At the time, no details about the cause of the crash or Woods’ condition were immediately available.
A picture taken by WPTV at the scene, however, showed the vehicle on its side. (Us Weekly reached out to police and Woods’ rep for comment.)
Just days before his accident, Woods competed in golf for the first time in more than a year when he played in Los Angeles as part of the Jupiter Links Golf Club.
“We got our butts kicked at the end,” Woods told reporters via the Golf Channel after the match on Tuesday, March 24. “Three eagles in a row. I missed a short one to give them momentum and we never got it back.”
The athlete explained that playing in the TGL golf league was just a step in his recovery and gave no indication about whether he could play in the Masters next month.

“This body, it doesn’t recover like it did when it was 24, 25. It doesn’t mean I’m not trying,” Woods said. “I’ve had a couple bad injuries here over the past years that I’ve had to fight through, and it’s taken some time. But I keep trying.”
In October 2025, Woods had surgery that aimed to repair a collapsed lumbar disc. It was his seventh procedure since 2014 and his second in the span of 13 months.
Regardless of his health setbacks, Woods made it clear that he still had plenty of love for the game of golf.
“I played other sports growing up, but I’ve just always loved this sport. I love to compete,” he told reporters in April 2024. “I just love doing the work. I love logging the time in. I love preparing, I love competing and I love that feeling when everything’s on fire with a chance to win and you either do or you don’t.”
Woods previously made headlines when he suffered significant leg injuries in a one-car crash in Southern California in February 2021.
After the crash, investigators said there was no reason to believe Woods had been operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Instead, the athlete crashed while driving at an “unsafe speed for road conditions,” a police report stated.
